Character Information: http://watchdogs.wikia.com/wiki/Wrench_(character)
Personality:
Some might say Wrench is your average ordinary textbook tryhard anarchist, hiding his face and breaking everything for the hell of it. Hell, he'd probably think that was a hilarious description and go along with it just because he thought it was funny. After all, he's loud, wild, crude, and aggressive. He talks fast and carries a big sledgehammer. And if he wasn't so skinny, he might just seem like the kind of guy to punch someone out for fun. He certainly fits the bill.
In fact, as he ingrained himself into the hacker collective known as DedSec, his weirdness was enough to make some people think he was a plant for the feds, at first. However, someone who does the dangerous things that Wrench does can't be anything but genuine, and he was able to truly prove himself. Among his group he's known as the one who 'gets shit done,' which proves invaluable when hacking into things just isn't enough. While physically breaking things is often a solution for him, he's also a skilled hacker himself, and has no problem getting into some software to take it apart from the inside out. And, perhaps, find exactly where the hardware is located so he can destroy that too, for good measure.
See, Wrench is certainly not above overkill, and neither are the emotions he keeps displayed on his face. Especially in cases where he gets angry or frustrated, and he certainly does have himself a bit of a temper sometimes. Luckily, he can often bring himself down from it... he just has to make sure he doesn't smash everything he can find up before he does.
But he's not all chaos and destruction, of course. As much as he can destroy, he can create. A skilled engineer, he likes to build weapons and other supplies whether the materials come from a 3D printer or appropriated hardware. Sometimes, he even gets attached to the things he's worked on, like his robot 'son' Wrench Jr. And, perhaps most importantly, he can hold his own in any nerdy conversation and has a deep appreciation for movies. He's always willing to debate the finer points of Star Wars or what comic book character would win in a fight (it's probably Archie).
As weird and 'fucked up' as he is, he still gets along quite well with the other members of the group, although he does often seem to be looking for an argument. His aggressiveness often comes into play when ideas are tossed around, but he does usually have people to talk him down when he's going a little overboard. Unless, of course, going overboard is the point, in which case he's happy to step in.
Allowing for a bit of mystique, which he will absolutely exploit, Wrench hides his face behind a mask that features both a voice modulator and a screen of sorts that he uses to broadcast his emotions without revealing his face underneath. These attempts to avoid facial and vocal recognition software do not stop him from talking people's ears off. He's always got something to say, even if that something isn't very appropriate. And once someone starts him talking, he's going to be very hard-pressed to stop. Good thing he can at least get along with the other members of DedSec.
With the mask off, however, he becomes far more subdued and quiet even if he's fighting back, his anger simmering rather than exploding. With nothing to hide his face, he hides himself away instead. As his FBI profile says, the mask isn't only there to keep him from being recognized; underneath he's awkward and insecure. The mask allows him to show off more than he ever could without it. And once the mask goes back on, he becomes animated once more.
But even when he's captured and his mask is taken, even when his face is on full display with nothing to retreat behind, he refuses to give in and trade in his friends for his security. No matter how weird he is, how loud and crude and destructive, he's loyal to his friends, to his group, to his team. And it's going to take more than the FBI or any other agency to screw that up.
That's one thing that he'll never destroy.
